ARROYO TO HOST JOB FAIR

CHICAGO- State Rep. Luis Arroyo (D-Chicago) announced on Thursday that he will be host a Constituent Services and Job Fair on Saturday, April to put job-seekers in touch with hiring employers and to connect residents with helpful services.

Illinois has too many residents unemployed, and that is partly because people aren’t aware of who is hiring,” Arroyo said.  “To help put people back to work, I am bringing some companies that are hiring to my community”

The Constituent Services and Job Fair will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the McCormick Tribune YMCA, located at 1834 N. Lawndale.  Representatives from AT&T, Coca-Cola, the Chicago Transit Authority, Illinois Central Management Services, Illinois Department of Transportation, Mayor’s Office of Workforce Development, Metra, PACE, and Workforce Inc. Industrial Staffing will be on-site accepting resumes.  All interested applicants should bring copies of a current resume.

Additionally, representatives from Commonwealth Edison, the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services and the Illinois Department of Human Services will be available with a variety of information regarding electric rates, healthcare and energy assistance, employment training, and child care.

“I want my constituents to know that there are programs to assist with electric bills, child care and health needs,” Arroyo said.  “It is my job to provide my constituents with as much information about programs that can make life easier.”

For more information regarding the Constituent Services and Job Fair, please contact Arroyo’s constituent service office at (773) 292-0202.
